Goal of the Board of Directors:
The goal of the Board of Directors is to provides governance and oversight. Members typically bring expertise in areas such as law, business, education, or the arts.
Role: Volunteer Board Member
Committment: 10 - 15 hours annually
OVERVIEW
Kai Kweol is a Caribbean music and dance organization dedicated to artistic excellence, cultural preservation, and community connection. As a volunteer board member, you’ll play a vital role in advancing our mission—supporting dance education, cultural expression, and engagement through music, performance, and heritage.
This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with creative, community-minded individuals while helping to shape the future of Caribbean arts in our region.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We value your time and aim to make board service meaningful yet flexible. Most board members contribute about 10–15 hours per year, primarily through virtual meetings and occasional outreach or event support.
Time Commitment:

3–4 virtual board meetings per year

Light engagement between meetings via email/phone

Optional attendance at performances, community events, or committee service
BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Kai Kweol board member, you will:

Attend quarterly remote board meetings and contribute your insights

Stay informed about organizational programs and goals

Review and provide input on key decisions and strategy

Support awareness, fundraising, and community engagement (in simple ways—such as inviting friends to an event or helping us connect to new partners)

Ensure alignment with our mission and basic financial oversight (we’ll support you with this!)
