Job Description: Part-Time Volunteer Community Outreach Coordinator

Organization: Kai Kweol Caribbean Music and Dance Company

Location: Remote 

Position Type: Volunteer Commitment: Twice monthly board meetings

 

A Community Outreach Coordinator in a non-profit plays a crucial role in building relationships between the organization and the community it serves. The primary responsibility is to engage with community members, stakeholders, and partner organizations to promote the non-profit's mission, programs, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Engagement & Relationship Building
     

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, businesses, schools, and community leaders.

    • Represent the non-profit at events, meetings, and networking opportunities.

  2. Program Promotion & Awareness
     

    • Develop outreach strategies to increase community participation in programs and events.

    • Organize workshops, forums, or cultural events to engage the public.

    • Distribute promotional materials through social media, newsletters, and in-person events.

  3. Volunteer & Partnership Coordination
     

    • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for various programs and events.

    • Collaborate with local businesses and sponsors to secure funding or in-kind donations.

    • Develop partnerships with schools, community centers, and other non-profits to expand outreach efforts.

  4. Event Planning & Execution
     

    • Plan and coordinate community events that align with the organization’s mission.

    • Oversee logistics, promotion, and community participation for outreach activities.

  5. Advocacy & Community Needs Assessment
     

    • Gather feedback from community members to understand their needs and challenges.

    • Advocate for policies or programs that benefit the target community.

  6. Grant & Funding Support
     

    • Assist in grant writing or reporting efforts by providing community impact data.

    • Help secure sponsorships or donations through outreach efforts.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in event planning, community organizing, or marketing.

  • Knowledge of the community’s culture, needs, and resources.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse groups.
