Position Type: Volunteer Commitment: Twice monthly board meetings

 

A Volunteer Coordinator in a non-profit organization is responsible for managing and organizing volunteers to support the organization’s mission. Their role includes recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers while ensuring they are effectively engaged and motivated.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruitment & Onboarding
     

    • Develops and implements strategies to attract volunteers.

    • Screens, interviews, and matches volunteers with suitable roles.

    • Conducts orientation and training to align volunteers with the organization’s goals.

  2. Scheduling & Supervision
     

    • Organizes volunteer shifts and assignments.

    • Ensures volunteers have clear expectations and necessary resources.

    • Provides guidance and support during volunteer activities.

  3. Engagement & Retention
     

    • Creates a positive volunteer experience to encourage long-term involvement.

    • Recognizes and rewards volunteers for their contributions.

    • Collects feedback to improve the volunteer program.

  4. Communication & Coordination
     

    • Acts as a liaison between volunteers, staff, and leadership.

    • Maintains clear and consistent communication.

    • Updates volunteers on upcoming events, changes, and policies.

  5. Administrative Duties
     

    • Keeps records of volunteer participation and performance.

    • Ensures compliance with legal and organizational policies.

    • Assists in reporting volunteer impact for grants and funding.
